Haemorrhoids
It is also called piles, which are
swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins. Haemorrhoids
can be external or internal.
SYMPTOMS
- Itching or irritation in your anal
region
- Pain or discomfort
- Swelling around your anus
- Bleeding
- Painless bleeding during bowel
movements.
- Prolapsed or protruding haemorrhoid,
resulting in pain and irritation.
- Severe pain
- Inflammation
CAUSES
- Straining during bowel movements
- Sitting for long periods of time on the
toilet
- Having chronic diarrhoea or
constipation
- Obesity
- Pregnancy
- Having anal intercourse
- Eating a low-fibre diet
- Regular heavy lifting
MANAGEMENT
- High-fibre foods
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Don't strain while passing stool
- Go as soon as you feel the urge
- Exercise.
- Avoid long periods of sitting.
